New behavior, cute or reason for concern??

Well we have had Max (B&G) for about a month now. Still learning what each of us need. He has started doing something new. It looks cute, but is there more to it? He is on his perch and rests his head on another perch. He leans on his lower beak, similar to our chin, and just watches us for a few minutes. He is active and inquisative other times. It is cute to see, I just haven't seen other birds do that. Do you suppose there might be a problem there?

Max's pics

I tried to post a couple of pictures of Max, I got them up on the Photos & Videos section. How do I attach them to a thread?

From my experience, perfectly normal. Newton does this - basically to "flirt"

Could be he's asking for a head scratch. It's kind of similar to what my birds do when they want one when they first see us.

The easiest way is to set up an account with Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and upload your pictures this way. It's free and a good way to show your pics and videos of your babies.

Has Max seen an Avian Vet since you brought him home? If not, this is a good time to make an appointment for a "well bird" check, and you can ask the vet at that time whether this seems like a normal behavior or not.

From my experience, Macaws will do all sorts of crazy things. Kenobi makes a sort of bed out of a couple of acrylic toys and watches the world go by from this crazy position--his head on a toy, his back on another, and his feet hanging onto a perch. Rowan spends half of her time hanging upside down like a bat, watching the world. Mikey Blue loves to hang from his beak and reach his huge feet towards anyone walking by--he simply LOVES having his feet held. I could go on and on, but since we don't see your bird, it's kind of hard to tell if this behavior is a cause for concern or not. If you are at all concerned, I'd suggest asking your vet. It may be a totally normal behavior, but only an expert can tell you for sure.

You should teach Rowan to sing the Batman theme. . .you know, the one from the old tv show, "nuh-nuh nuh-nuh nuh-nuh nuh-nuh BAT MAN!!" while doing that.
