Secretion coming out of one nostril B&G Macaw Looks like a running nose

Hello to All,
Can someone please help,
This morning I went to uncover lucky and noticed some secretion around his nose.
I looked like it ran down on only one side.
My vet is currently still closed, so I am looking for help here for now.
Has anyone ever had this happened to them before.
Please Help.
Thanks.

It could mean a few things and should be Vet checked ASAP.

It appears that he sneezed and made his nose run.
His vet is on Vacation, and returns on Sat, I will look for another one in the mean time, but it's rare to find an Avian Vet around in North Jersey.

if you contact your regular avian cert. vet
and your vet is away they will give you another recourse - this is something I feel needs to be seen right away.

It could be somethinng as simple as a bit too much dust, or it could be the beginnings of a respitory infection... not something to mess with. find another doc and get him checked!

warning please get your bird checked.

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE get your bird to the vet immediatly. not trying to scare you but my savannah had that and i didnt think it was anything, which i should have, i dont know for a fact, but i lost her at only 3.5 years old, and the vet said that it could have been a respitory infection, they really wernt sure. she was my first macaw and i didnt know much about them. and i wish i could go back in time, and get her to the vet the second that i noticed that.

i miss her very very very badly. and still cry for her, its been 3 years now. please get him/her check out. i dont want you to go through what i did.

Nostrils: Should be clear of any blockages. They should be of the same size and shape. In birds with bare facial patches (Macaws) the skin should be clear and white. A flush of red sometimes indicates an infection of the sinus cavities. A scaly appearance of the cere (fleshy part around nostrils) indicates scaly face (common in Budgies) a disease caused by mites. Please seek an avian vet. I hope everything turns out okay for your fid!

I just wanted to thank you all for your advise, after getting lucky examined, it turned out it was just dust.
The vet checked his lungs as well as his Nostrils and everything is fine.
Thanks again my friends.

I agree you need to get him to the vet as soon as you can. Birds have such a wide variety of illnesses they can contract. Keep him warm, calm and hydrated until you can get him there.

Does your city have an "emergency" 24 hr vet clinic that is open on weekends that you can ask for an avian vet? They may advise you whether to bring him in or what to do until you can get to your avian vet in the morning. It would be worth a try.
