Calypso is Not what I thought...

LOL, He is in fact a Harliquin and NOT a Catalina. I was thinking as much and had many comments that he might be (and his large size) but I couldnt tell Ive seen so many cats that look exactly like him down to that darker red chest BUT its on his vet record I guess. The vet wont release his records without consent from the original second owner so the "go between" is waiting for that so possibly can be getting a hatch date?? provided the first owner passed it on, which is highly possible since he was well loved and cared for ,for his first 30 years. A hatch date would be cool to have

I don't have a hybrid but admire their colors. I have a B&G that will be 30(captive yrs) in October and I'm always interested in the personalities and the health of older Macaws. According to some studies Macaws start showing signs of aging at about 30 yrs of age.

You can hardley tell he is 40 except for when he holds food, his leg shakes a bit and he has to rest it on the perch after a minute. Oh and he is active but a gentleman.

My Charlie is a sweetheart and loves to play rough. Here is a study you might find interesting on older Macaws.http://www.cyberparrots.com/15-1992.pdf

Catalinas to me always had an orange or orange red chest... where-as Harlequins have a deep red chest.... so I'd vote a Harley!

Any updates?
