I wish I did... I would definately consider taking the others in for a gram stain. What does the vet say. Should you quarentine him from the others. Has he been stressed... anything new or different going on? Getting food from the same place. I dont know. Wish I could help more. Sorry.

hi kelly he is always stressed, he is skiddish. i believe he was abused. the petstore he was in was condemned for animal abuse and overbreeding, and dead animals on property. he was fine on his first vet visit, but he is still trying to trust me.

the vet said to put benebac (with that lacidophoulus stuffm so i found a bird vitamin with that in it.) in the other birds water.

the only problem that i am having is with the blue and gold and the gw sharing the cage, i put meds in the food and i have to seperate her and then she screams, i have let her eat some with the meds in it. (not alot) since there is a good chance she could have it.

he did good yesterday and the day before eating food with the meds in it. today he hasnt touched any. i think he might have eaten earlier though before i got up and put meds in. so im gonna try again when i make spaghetti, he is very quiet right now and im so worried for him. they gave me ornabax or something like that. im thinking about calling another vet and seeing what they think.

i also read baytril, and tetracycline, and doxicylcline are good for bacterial infections too which i have on hand.

each test is $40, so im hoping that i dont have to go there yet with the other birds. im not sure what to do so im going to call this well known clinic that is over an hour away and see what they think about meds. and what i should do.

thanks!

Yeah, I am sorry to hear all of this, what a sad story... happy you rescued them. When I have to medicate my Severe I put in a glass with a little bit of orange juice in it. Works like a charm... he piggies it right down cuz he thinks hes getting a treat. That might work... that way you wouldnt have to stress anybody out by separating them... just make sure you have two separate glasses one with juice and meds for the one who is sick and plain old juice for the one who is not. I have trained all of mine to drink out of a glass and they get diluted orange juice once a week just in case of situations like these. My vet actually suggested this. Big birds are hard to towel and they end up spitting most of it back out. Give it a try. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Your babies are very lucky to have you. Take Care-
