signs of Blue & gold wanting to mate

anyone know the signs of the blue & gold wanting to make ?
it seems here lately my male (hook) keeps chewing at the end of my female`s (baby) tail-feathers . my female (baby keeps hunkering down and spreading or fanning out her wings with her back twards (hook) my male.
it kinda looks like they are wanting too, but are they ??
i figured that a few of you in here might know what`s going on ....
thanks

Yep! Your hen is definetly enticing the male. She wants it. Is she making a growling sound too? When they are mating they sometimes sound like a motor revving up. If she is growling and behaving like that and your male is mature, get ready for easter eggs. B&G macaws occasionally sexually mature as young as 2 years old, but usually more around 5 or 6.

she hasen`t started making the growling sounds yet ,,guess i need to get some popcorn out !!(just joking),they are both 6 yrs old (so i was told this) well i hope they rev that motor up , and bring me some easter eggs. i guess i need to start reading up on the nesting box and all. ok if it happens , should i let her hatch them , or take them and put them in a incubator(hope i spelled that right)should i keep them where they are or move them where there is less traffic?? or i `ll just rerout the traffic!! keep your fingers crossed, i know i will!!
thanks for the help, i`ll keep you all up to date on this !!!!!!

I don't use an incubator for anything other than emergencies. If you do want to let them breed, B&Gs are usually excellent parents. I always let my macaw hens sit on their eggs to get them in the habit, and encourage the parents to feed their babies. I have one hen that breaks eggs, and hers go under another hen that is brooding. I have another pair that sits beautifully, but will butcher their babies. In that case, I will remove the fertile eggs during internal pip and hatch them in the incubator or brooder. Maybe you could ask Wendy the macaw expert for advice about setting up your B&G pair. She has a LOT of experience breeding macaws. I have more experience with companion macaws over the years then I do with breeding.

Congratulations! Sounds like the honeymoon may be beginning :-)

you may have a point , but i look at it as mother nature taking it`s course, i`ve had puppies, i`ve had kittens , coons , foxes , skunks , deer , wolves, and just about every other animal around here , but this will be different, i will admit on that! i`m sure that`s why romeo (my male scarlet)
is acting soo nippy , he`s been more nippy than normal this last week. but i hope they(baby & hook) do their thing and everything goes ok for them . any help, advice and any links would be helpful.
thanks for your advice

Just because they are females---

Doesn't mean they cannot be bonded pairs. Lucy and Ethel are dna'd female and are siblings. They are definately without a doubt bonded.

We are working on their challenging personalities.....but they have good days and bad days.

(Just like all of us, I reckon!!)
