Morgan the Miligold... hes home
Well today has been a long but exciting day... after 2 weeks of preparation and anticipation, we went and picked Captain Morgan up from his wonderful parents and brought him home. He has finally quieted down, so Im gonna tell my "brief" version of the story and Im going to bed. We had a 40 min drive to pick him up, got to the house cage was broken down ready to go... after a sad goodbye, the man cried... it was so sad. We packed Morgan up assured the man we would take good care of him and told him "when in our neck of the woods, please call and come by and visit anytime you want"... we headed back to our side of the water. Took him straight to get his wings clipped and toes pedicured and a quick check and went on home. Husband put the cage together while Morgan rested on my leg continuously repeating "I love you" and "What" he had some dried fruit and some O.J. and hung out for about 45 min. I went and decorated his Fid Condo and we put him in. He checked out his newly decorated digs and clung on to the front of the cage for dear life calling to "Paco" his beloved pet Chihuahua he had at his previous home. He continued to yell for Paco and ran through a whole list of words to include a few dirty ones when we left the room (I hate quarentine time ... but its so necessary). Me and the Hubby went for dinner so he could have some quiet time and settle in. Came back two hours later... still clinging for dear life. Sat on the floor in the room with him and talked to him ... went and got some berries, grapes and some birdie bread... he decided to come down from his peak and try some ... he sat there and let me feed him through the bars for about half an hour and he talked and hes so sweet... still a little nervous... but I am not a stranger to this rehoming stuff. Patience is a must. Hes got a great disposition... hes very smart and lucky for me like most macaws... hes VERY nosey. I finally turned off the big lamp, turned on the nite light and said sweet dreams Captain... he replied "Night Night" said a couple of colorful words and I havent heard a squawk yet. Tomorrows a brand new day. I can hardly wait... I love new adventures. To all of you who have adopted or/and rescued you know what Im talking about. I will keep you posted and get some pics up when I can. "Nighty Night."
Okay maybe it wasnt so "brief."

I hope so. I see your situation is being amicably resolved and you have got your sights on a little B&G. Congrats to you too! Very happy it worked out for you. Thanks again for the kind words.

Congratulations on YOUR Captain Morgan. I have a CAG with the same name. My Morgan turned out to be a girl but still says she's a good boy. She is also rehomed and after 8 months I am still trying to get her to like her new home AND ME.

Well I dont know about a Chihuahua, but we have got a Kitty which I dont think hes ever seen one. She came into the room this morning and feathers got all ruffled up and eyes started to pin. Her names not Paco either unfortunately. So far the day has gone well, he stepped right up for my husband this morning who got him out scratched his little pinny head and now hes sitting on his stand enjoying a bowl of kale, grapes, strawberries and oranges. He has never had fresh fruit (food in general) and has taken to it quite well. Hes gonna like it here... our fids eat lots of fresh food. I will keep you posted. Its gonna suck for me to have to go back to work tom. :+(
