When giving antibiotics, if you don't do the right dose could probably kill your birds... antibiotics also tend to kill the good and the bad bacteria in the body, which could cause a fungal infection.... which is why a good bacteria supplement such as Benebac is usually recommended to be givin with meds or right after meds are finished.
I've only used liquid Baytril for dogs, diluted in some saline, and made into mist. All other meds I've used on the birds, if not bird specific, were infants or childrens meds (such as infants ibuprofen, and childrens apsirin). I've only used these meds via my avian vets recommendations or prescriptions to. Here's a little warning... one person had a vet, who was said to be the best in the field in their area. They've used this vet for a long time. They had two lovebirds, one an 11 year old female not in the best of shape, and the other a younger, probably healthy, male. Aspirin therapy was recommended by the vet (I can't even tell you if it's an avian vet) for a stroke in the older lovebird, so this person used adult aspirin (325mg), 1 pill in 4 ounces of water for one day, and then 1/2 an aspirin in 4 ounces of water for a week. One stopped eating and was bleeding internally (aspirin causes the blood to thin), the other had a seizure. The lovebirds were about 45 grams. 4 oz's of water is 118 cc's. In comparison, my Cherry head Conure (150-160 grams) was getting 1 tablet of baby aspirin (81mg) crushed into powder in 30cc's water, and given .04cc's twice a day. This was to counteract the blood thickening of her other meds, which was for her liver. I still have my cherry head. Is there any way your GW will drink some sort of fruit juice? If so you could try mixing the meds in some fruit juice and giving this to your bird via a syringe or cup.... or you could try putting it on a piece of bread with a small amount of peanut butter? Or even in some "baby food" (cooked veggies, such as yams or carrots) mashed. That is, so long as it's fine to mix the meds with foods and juices! If the B&G may have the same infection then it would be wise to give the same meds to her (although in different dosage if they don't weigh the same). This should be something you've spoken with your avian vet about.
