It is natural for birds to make bird sounds. The only way to stop it is have a vet of ill repute remove the bird version of vocal cords. Not a kind thing to do.

In the sane world, birds will be birds and birds so make bird sounds. If it is too much for you, smaller birds do make smaller sounds. I love the sounds canary's make. Really.

If you reduce the stress on the bird, you will reduce the louder sounds they make, but that is by no means fool proof. My wife works with our birds with shooting muffs on meant to quiet shotguns. Works for her. This also protects her from ear nipps when a bird is on her shoulder.

If a person could make a video that would erase all loud sounds from a macaw, that would sell for about a million dollars to the highest bidder. lol

I'd rather spend 50.00 on toy parts- treats ect.

I think it is cruel to demand a bird to be quiet- they need to be allowed to do what is natural, glad our birds are allowed to be birds as it was intended. JMHO

Screaming is slightly different than the dusk and dawn screaming....the screaming that the trainer implys is for the parrot who constantly screams. For the everyday screaming of etc husband coming home etc all you really need to do is train the humans to greet the bird and/or hold him/her so that he gets some attention even for a little bit. Chet does offer if you send your e-mail address on his website he'll send some free training courses for you to try though...

Yes. I've heard of Chet Womach. Birdboard moderators/owners invited him and there was a conference call training session for anyone to join about his training about 3 weeks ago. I have a couple of his DVD's. He does give some good tips. He is legit.
I've used "bits" of his training incorporated with my own to train my macaw. A lot of people here can give you some good tips as well on screaming birds.

"The only way to stop it is have a vet of ill repute remove the bird version of vocal cords. "

macaaaw, don't go giving people ideas now!.....lol. Seriously though I"m sure it'll come to that one day

jjones1719, as someone else above said, you can get great (actually expert) advice on this forum. As far as any product that your interested in goes, I'd do a search here and on google and you'll find discussions about that product by people who've tried it. That'll give you some opinions and experiences.

There are different types of screaming that birds do and there's alot of info available out there and for free (a great thing about the net). Abnormal screaming is the result of a problem and not the problem itself. You want to address the cause not the screaming.

Again, do a search before you lay down any money. I personally don't believe that there is a magic trick or easy solution nor do I personally feel I need one. Isight, knowledge, patience, understanding, common sense, love....these are the types of things that I use. I also do not believe that any one source is privy to training secrets that are not already out there.

Is there a bird club in your area? There is one in mine and they have bird-behaviorist and vet guest speakers all the time. You learn so much from them.

I can't personally comment on the product you brought up because I never tried it but that person IS on this forum. So maybe they could respond to you. I don't personally know how to qualify a product or bird behaviorist. Whether it's years experience, a certificate, success stories, reputation, etc. I'd look into anyone with the best of these categories.

I re-read my post and just to clarify, jjones1719, I didn't mean you personally when I said that. I was joking but I meant general population.
