((hugs)) i can feel your pain... it must be hard watching morgan not being able to do what he's used to be doing. but please don't get yourself caught up in thinking you didn't do good by saving him - he's a happy bird (though he might be missing some things) and he loves you! the way you care for him, and the effort and research you're doing won't go unrewarded.
can you cuddle him up and bring him outside with you to sit in the sun together - a little treat to munch on for morgan (and another one for you), combined with the warmth and energy of the sun will make you both feel better.... hand in there girl - you're doing a wonderful job with your little baby!

Talk to your avian vet, he may be able to help you decide whether there is any pain and quality to his life, hard to say, when I had to put two of my dogs down I guess I just "knew" it was time, but as long as the pain was under control and they had some happy moments I kept them going, but you need to take your time, observe and make your decision in "his" best interest, very tough thing to do when you love them and want them with you.I had a little budgie who i took from someone else,he had a tumor ion his eye,I think they knew he wouldn't get better but after my vet checked him out and pointed out certain physical things that showed he was in pretty bad pain it was easier to let him go,which turned out for the best, surgery wouldn't have cured him as the necropsy showed he had lymphoma,I stayed for the necropsy and could see how far gone the tumor was,i only had him a few wks but it broke my heart, but i'm glad he wasn't suffering any more..... thoughts are with you, wish I could offer more to comfort you

he's improving and doesnt need "put down" . looks arent everything at a time like this. forget the tail fearthers. he will grow a tail when he is well. nature is breaking those feathers off for a reason. they are in the way of his healing and comfort. hang in there you'll do fine.

I have a female U2 that has similar problems. I felt like you until Chloe's vet pointed out that I'm not perfect either and Chloe loves me just as much.
Now I look at her and just wish happiness for her. I love her no matter how many or how few feathers she has. She is Daddy's Precious Princess and I wouldn't trade her for a show winner.

How has the research with the Vet Accupuncture / Chiropractor thing going, if you want I can help you out with that if you would like. Like some of the others I am interested in hearing what your vet has to say about his condition. I also agree that you should take him outside and get some sun... I too think it would be great for both of you. I think that Captain has a really awesome mom. You hang in there and keep us posted. Im keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.
