Regurgitation Question

Ok, so today we took Calypso with us on a ride in the minivan, to pick up an incubator I just bought. Strangest thing is he decided to do the regurgitation thing many times the whole way. Why? why did he choose the car ride? The only time he has done it at home is when he was on the porch railing with miss Lizzy and that I understood.
He was sitting atop a travel cage with full veiw out all the windows for the entire ride and while we ate breakfast - seemed to enjoy it for the most part but the sudden urge to regurgitate baffels me.... anyone????

Did I understand that you ate breakfast while on the road? If he was with you while you ate, that may have triggered it. Since they're flock animals and eat together, the little bird intellect may have thought, "Well I guess we'll all eat and I'll feed my mom" Just a thought.

Maybe this is silly but, could he have been car sick? Do birds get motion sickness like people do?

Get More Towels!

Up-chucking as I call it is a sign the bird feels he/she is in the right place at the right time.

It can mean love, it can mean excitement, it can mean dozens of things. It means something to your bird, and more than likely it is a good thing, except for your car carpeting.

This is usually not a sign to rush your bird to the vet. If you weigh your bird daily (highly recommended) you will see if more is going in and staying put than is going out. If the weight is constant to within a 10-20 gram spread daily, try to find more things the bird likes and take along lots of towels.

Enjoy.

Captain does the same thing everytime I take him to the vet. I think he gets car sick. He throws up the entire time the car is moving.

No we ate near the end of the ride and went in and sat down (watching him from the window). He started it almost immediatly. It was just as he does when he sees a female. the whole head bobbing thing. He only actually regurgitated once. im thinking he was just excited?

when an animal get sick it seems to happen a little ways into the ride - he did this like before we left the driveway.

I'm not sure but judging by his age i think he was excited. Matches regurgitated at one stage but she was only about 3 months old so i knew she was sick, metal poisoning. But because Calypso is alot older I would think it would just be excitement.

I would agree with you and Courtzrocks then. Sounds like he was excited. Newt does this when we play sometimes.
