PBFD tests are starting to come back in
Hey guys.. sorry I haven't been around as much. Thought I would pass along that the PBFD tests are starting to come in from the birds (Remember, we had a bird come in that tested negative for PBFD and then was retested a few months later when it started showing symptoms and it did in fact have PBFD and was in contact with my birds)
50% of my lovebirds are affected. The two cages that were right next to Tillie's are both affeted, but the other two cages in the house everyone is negative. I am still waiting on the macaw and enviornmental tests- we took swabs from the house and the quarentine building where the PBFD + birds are. I am hoping it is limitted to the quarentine building but can't be positive. Right now the fact that the two lovebird cages that are in the house do NOT have PBFD is really comforting. My macaws are in the same room as them.
so still waiting with horribly baited breath.
I also wanted to let you know some quick updates: Maui is doing much better on his constant screaming- I think he finally got through his nasty spring "hey look im a male!!!" screaming phase. We also found a puzzle toy he REALLY likes and I think that helps.
MaiTai is doing very good lately and steps right up now with no biting. sometimes he will just randomly bite when you are petting him, but for the most part he is doing great. He is a major chewer and has already demolished every toy I can buy him.
I'll let you know as soon as I get the rest of the tests back-
