I don't have a macaw, but my ekkie likes to dip certain foods into her water before eating. We're not sure why, and I'm not really sure which ones, but it makes her fresh water look like it has white film in it.

If someone from animal control were to come to my house right before I got home from work, they'd think I hadn't changed it in weeks!! And she's just one bird!

Oscar will dip his pellets into the water dish, but that's to soften them up. I have come to recognize the smell of fruity birdie soup whenever he's done with a meal! lol

Cheyenne on the other hand doesn't dip food in her water dish at all. Every bird is different, I guess.

no macaws here either, but nino takes 2-3 pellets in his beak and dunks them into the water before eating... he also throws all kinds of other food into his water dish - definitely soup, every day... i have 2 water dishes in his cage just so he has clean water too in case he wants some (the 2nd dish is far enough away from the food dish )

Zeus is a master chef when it comes to making soup!! He adds so many different types of fruits and veggies that the water changes color I notice he only makes it when he doesnt have plans for bathing in the bowl though .

some birds make poop soup. make sure your water bowls arent below any perches. some people have to resort to water bottles, cause the birdy will poop in the dish, where ever it is. cause they think its the toilet i guess.

my macaw makes vegitable soup. she likes her pellets dry.

I'm glad that works for you guys. We tried it, and guess what we got. . . .2 bowls inside the cage of birdie soup, and the bowl on the playstand turns into birdie soup, too.

Scarlett is determined to make me clean out her water bowls 12 times a day.

Bird soup is the reason I have trained all my birds to use water bottles.

You have a dunker! Newt and Elliot both love to dunk their food and then eat, plus they both play in it.

Newt thinks its really cool to get a small water bottle, (which I give him to play with) dip it in his water bowl and pour water all over the cage.. little stinker.

Elliot likes to stick his head in the water bowl and say "Blah blah blah: and come up with a Mohawk! LOL
