Harlequin Baby - Unusual Color

I know alot of people dont like / accept the Hybrid Macaw thing... but you have to admit... they are awful darn pretty. The Pet Store up the street got in two Harlequin babies from the same clutch and well those of you who have or who have seen a Harlequin Macaw, have you every seen one with Red around its face and on its belly? They are usually orange in color. Look at this guy... you have to admit hes gorgeous. From the red around his face and belly to the ever green feathers on his back (what little is there) this guy is certainly a rare one. Certainly the pics do him no justice... hes a pretty one.

I have seen a few that have more red than orange on their chest. They're beautiful.. Of course, I am somewhat biased.

Kelly, I live in Virginia also. Are these birds at Pet Paradise in Virginia Beach? We got our first bird from there. A red-bellied parrot. Then we would go and look at the macaws before we decided on a green wing. We got her from a breeder in Charlottesville. I would like to see these birds if they are at Pet Paradise. Thanks for the pictures.

Yes that is exactly where they are, he is a gorgeous baby. I couldnt resist taking a picture to share. I originally took the pics to send to my dad (I want this bird) but thought Id share with the Board cause hes such a pretty baby. They brought them in yesterday, I fell in love when I went up there to check on my Blue Crowned Conure Baby. But yes that is where he is, you gotta go check him out. Dont tell you seen the pics on here, I love those people up there (especially Jean) and I wouldnt want her angry at me.

My Calypso has a red trim around his face but not that much. I wonder if he will stay, they do change with age. Esp after the first molt.
