Introducing my 2 Hahns
I adopted Bonnie and Clyde in late February (or was it early March?) Both had been badly clipped with only the 2 outer flight feathers left, Bonnie had a half chewed up tail and they were both terrified of hands. They were both around 6 months old, with no rings or anything, so no way to trace where they originally came from before their previous owner had them
I didn't have a clue about larger birds, but was determined to do my best for them so have read up tons and I'm still learning as much as I can about them. Bonnie has gained a lot of confidence since joining us, and isn't as vicious any more, but poor old Clyde is still really scared and attacks any hands or fingers that go anywhere near him. He'll even fly over to me purely for the sake of biting me when he gets the chance, so whenever they're out I look a bit daft with a tea-towed draped over my head LOL I've got them saying quite a few things, have let them learn how to play with toys (that was another thing they were terrified of when I got them), and they've even both started having baths! Just a couple of pictures to show my little beauties: Bonnie being nice ![]() Clyde keeping his distance: ![]() Both together: ![]() There's a video of them taking up on youtube, my username there is the same as here if anybody wants to see it. Aww thanks
We actually don't know the sexes of these 2, we just keep calling them 'the boys'. Would like to get them DNA tested at some point just out of curiosity but with them being so fearful still I don;t want to forcefully grab them and stress them out. (I'd also like to keep all of my fingers intact LOL). Anna |

That's wonderful how you've adopted these two beautiful birds! They are "hahns down" (sorry, stole the pun from another member but forgot their name) gorgeous!
I'm glad that Bonnie is turning around. Hopefully Clyde will follow her lead. :)

That's what I'm hoping for too, I know it's purely fear with him as he gets jealous when Bonnie gets attention and he badly wants some too, he's just afraid of accepting it right now. They're a gorgeous pair though, very little screaming from them compared to what I'd expected from bigger birds and most of the time they seem to get on really well together.
It's strange, I like my small birds and had never in my life planned to have anything bigger than cockatiels, but when these little guys needed a home I just couldn't say no. Wouldn't part with them for all the money in the world now ![]() Anna |

Hehehe, to me they're massive! Well maybe not the birds themselves, but OMG those beaks!! They're huge compared to my budgies and 'tiels. Took a LOT of getting used to, believe me
I was actually terrified of their beaks for the first couple of weeks, but it got better with time. Still wary of Clydes because I know he'd have me if he got the chance Anna |
