Wanted to intro myself and have a few ????

HI EVERYONE!!!! My name is Amber and I am getting a Blue and Gold at the end of July he is only six weeks right now. I bought him a MAnzanita tree yesterday and it doesn't have anything on it I have to screw all the toys in myself and I cannot find anyfeeding dishes that screw into the wood from the bottom. Or I guess that is what I need I am not even sure what did you guys use for the tree when it comes to feeding. I am a SAHM so he will probably be on his tree the majority of the day so I wanna make sure everything is fun and safe for him.

BTW I have never had a bird before but have been researching Macaws for about a year before purchasing I read everything I can get my hands on and I have a great realtionship with the breeder. But saying that I am still clueless on alot so I hope u all can help. Sorry this is so Long!!!!

Amber

Manzanita is very hard to drill but you CAN do it. I like to make holes in the side for the bolts on Quick lock crocks because they are easier to remove and dont leak. Some of the kinds that screw down are leakers but there are some that do not have a hole in the bottom, you may have to order them.

A B&G Macaw as your first parrot. There's nothing like jumping in with both feet. You will have a lot of fun with your baby.I am owned by quite a flock which includes 3 B&G Macaw 2 which I raised since hatchlings.Have you picked out a name yet or your waiting for the DNA sexing?

Hello, and Welcome to BB!! I'd like to say congrats on the B&G. Awesome that you did your research, I'm always glad to see new owners asking questions! There are tons of people that frequent the BB who are highly knowlegeable/

No we are not having the baby sexed and we are naming it Marley. My hubby loves Bob Marley!!! The breeder is letting us come and see the baby so hopefully he will know us a little by the time we bring him home. His babies have all been so sweet and gentle so I am sure we will have a loveable baby.
Wow that is quite a flock u have a bet they keep u busy.

Very good name I love Bob Marley. You should do fine with Marley he/she is young continue to work and train Marley as it grows.I had only other
large parrot experience when I got my first B&G Macaw Buzz and she was 10 years old and was abused. But the hardest part was getting over all her trust issues. With you your working with a baby so it really shouldn't be that hard.
Continue to do your research. There is also a Macaw Forum here that you can get help from.I wish you and Marley well.

Is it a manzanati(sp)stand your talking about? There is a place that sells stainless steel bowl and screws if that's what your looking for.I will have to look into it.I don't know if with a Macaw it would be worth putting a quick lock if that's what your saying. They can take it apart.Speaking from experience. One of my friend's gave me a manzanati stand that she had to do just what your talking about doing. She purchased some stainless steel bowls from somewhere and the stainless steel screws and somehow fastened them to the stand. The site here is MacawForum.com - Macaw Parrot, Blue and Gold Macaw, Military Macaw, Hahns Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Green Winged Macaw • Index page
