Neither of the birds listed will be cheap. You looking at any where from $5,000-$25,000 depending on where you live and the age/condition of the fid you want.
I voted Palm Cockatoo because if I coulld have any bird in the world it would be that one. Second would be a Hyacinth only because of how cool looking and rare the Palm Cockatoo is.
Cheers.

Smile Palm Cockatoo

If you can afford it, get the cockatoo. You need to take out health insurance on the hyacynth. They are really big, and can you afford it? I voted for the palm because I didn't want to be part of the flock (group) good luck.

I will also vote for the Hy in this case. I think that the Hy's are big teddy bears and can be very sweet and loving. Of course, like any other breed - that is not always the case - and their beaks are huge and can carry quite a nasty bite. I will never forget the first time I wached one crack open a macadamia nut...in a second.....

But after reading a lot of information about the Palms - I think that they are very special birds that need a ton of special attention. From reading several articles - I think that it is honestly a little cruel for many people to own them... and the same thing for the Toucan...

While I would LOVE to have either of them, I think that they are better off with people who have been trained and know how to meet all of their needs. I also believe that they are great in rescue environments - but I don't know about owning them as a pet... but that is just my opinion... and I could be COMPLETELY wrong....

But let us know what you come up with!!

I am not sure what your definition of cheap is. For me none of these birds would be cheap. Also if you want a Hy you need a stainless steel cage. They can bend the metal of some of the less expensive cages. If it was me I would LOVE to get a Hy. My concern is their toy and cage needs would really add up. I dont mind the size. We have the room and the time for one.

Rare, unusual, difficult-to-find: Black Palm, Red-Tail & Gang-Gang Cockatoos, Blue Napes, Hawkheads
