Avian Vet in the San Antonio Area

Can anyone recommend a good Avian Vet in the San Antonio area?
We took Piper (our B&G) to one last week to get her nails trimmed and her wings
clipped and weren't happy with the vet. She seemed to think that
her crop should empty within 45 minutes of taking a 120cc bottle
and she was pretty rough with the towel while dremmeling her nails.
She loved having her face rubbed and playing peek a boo with a towel.
Now she's leary of the towel and almost a week later is starting to warm
up to having her face rubbed again. Needless to say, that won't be our
vet. We didn't realize how lucky we were to have found a good Avian Vet
in Florida.

Dont know about SA, but this guy is in south Austin if are willing to take the drive.

Austin, TX - M. Scott Echols (Westgate Pet & Bird Hosp) - 512-892-4463

he is one of the few certified avian specialists in Texas.

I have not yet had a need to use him but others recommend him.

I don't mind driving to Austin if we have to. I'd prefer to find a good in in SA. But that's not too far to make sure it's a good vet.

Thanks for the suggestion. Anybody with first hand experience with this vet care to chime in?

I have first hand experience with Dr. Echols in Austin and have been very pleased. I haven't been in for anything more than nail trims and annual check-ups, but he is very knowledgeable and friendly. He handled Kodiak (RFM) very well and we actually never needed a towel. If you can't find someone in SA that you feel comfortable with, I'd definitely make the drive!

If anyone is looking for an Aviary Vet in San Antonio. I recommend Broadway Oaks Animal Hospital. Dr Vince was great with Piper today.

Avian Vet San Antonio or Austin

Hi,
I have used Dr Echols and he was wonderful but has moved to Utah so now I'm looking for a new Avian Vet. I used to go to The Broadway Oaks Animal Hospital in San Antonio but had a bad experience with Dr Richardson so I never went back. It was a few years ago so maybe things have changed.
Can anyone offer a recommendation on an Avian Vet in San Antonio or Austin?
Thanks,
Wendy
