Kianna had a feather that was split down the middle yellow and blue and another with a triangle shape of yellow. She gets them periodically.

Hello mabird,

I'm new in the forum and I hope it can help the translator if I may. Please if not understood me know.

Very handsome your macaw, well I will give my opinion on the matter based on my experience.
The yellow pigment that presents your bird, if you still good, is at the ends of pens, which tells us that during the growth of feathers was not something either in his body.

Possible causes may be very different, normally indicate a problem in the liver (the same in humans who have liver problems s skin is yellow…), can be a food deficit in some nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fat… There have also been cases of aspergillosis (fungus) that cause this discoloration.

Ideally, visit a veterinarian specializing in birds, go for dismissing these possibilities.

Again forgive the language and if not understood me know please.

A greeting

David Estepa (Spain)

I unfortunetely dont know how to go about selling on Ebay.I just buy things, hehehe.
I save all their tailfeathers and would have a hard time selling Wilburs yellow tailfeather.
But maybe 1 day i will.

Looks like your macaw is a pied, but I also agree with Estepa, could be a liver issue as the main symptom is odd, pale, or white feathers where there should be none. I would suggest ruling it out as well.

If everything medical is ruled out ....this is how mutations are created...by finding natural mutations like this and breeding them together to create a more pronounced mutation. Im not saying you should breed - just bringing up a factoid!

Can birds have 'birthmarks' like that all white feather? That's what I was thinking it is...
