Talking Excellent news!!!!

With 5 wonderfully and adoring fids, there is going to be another in a few years! I've decided on getting a baby Blue and gold Macaw in 2010. We have a breeder located near us so I hope everything works out! I've fallen in love with them. I'm surprised too.. because I always said I'd stick with the smaller breeds, but there's always a chance for something new. They're so expensive, so we're taking this year and a half to save! But I am very excited, even though it's a while away. Just thought I'd share that with everyone!

It's gonna seam like forever for you sorry to say.
You are going to be very happy with the decision to get a B&G, after having Hannah for two months now I cannot figure out how I made it this long without ever having a B&G. At first I was thinking it was taking too big of a chunk than I could chew, the beak was very intimidating at first but now the beak is the least of our fears, out of all our fids and the fids that I have ever had, she is the most gentle with her beak, she gets a little nippy sometimes but that is due to her being so young and not knowing her strength, but she learns really fast..................LMB

Congrats, but again the waiting is terrible. I waited for about 2yrs to get my gcc, and finally got her yesterday. The waiting game just seems to last forever, but its all worth it in the end!

Congratulations! I grew up with a B&G and I would love to have one myself one day, as they are one of my very favorite birds. But yes, money is always tight! Good luck with your "savings plan". :)

Thanks everyone, but I actually decided against getting a macaw. I saw a picture of one and just loved it, but honestly cockatiels and budgies just are top on my list. I have my hands full, and I feel I will within 2 years.

Thanks for the support

That's smart of you to rethink getting a b&g. They are wonderful but if your having second thoughts its wise to trust your instincts. Glad to see you've given it some thought.

I'm not near as concerned with our B&G's beak as I am with our Quaker. With both we don't show that they've hurt us or that we're scared when they try to nip. But the Quaker actually bites harder. I guess it's like the difference between a big dog and a
small dog. The smaller dogs always seem to have an attitude (This from the guy with two Chihuahuas)
