Since he's two months old, you must be handfeeding him. And, since you haven't seen him drinking very often, here's what you can do. When I handfeed a baby bird, at the end of it, I offer warm water in a different smaller syringe (a little at a time, so as not to asperate him), it sort of cleans out their mouths, and gives them a little extra fluid intake. Also, if some dribbles down around their beaks, it helps clean that area also. I hope Papaya had a good vet visit!

We went to the vet this afternoon and got some good news. They drew blood, did a fecal exam, CBC, a physical, the works. The vet said he looked healthy and that sometimes baby birds have less fat on their face and that it should fill in down the road. She wasn't concerned (there isn't any nasal discharge or breathing problems) and said when her b&g was a baby he had the same sunken in face and he filled out in 1 1/2 to 2 years.
In the back of my mind I'm still a little worried though and I won't be 100% relieved until the test results come in. She said the dents in his beak could be from hatching or from too much pressure on it when he was young and the beak was still pliable. That too should grow out. I decided to get him sexed while we had blood available so we'll see if he is a she. Keep your fingers crossed.. Thank you all for your concerns and advice! I'm grateful I have you all for help Pics taken before bedtime tonight. [IMG] [/IMG![]()

My vet called with the results of the dna sexing. Papaya is a male! Bad news is his white blood cell count is elevated so I'll be bringing him in for some antibiotics once his cultures come back which should be tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not serious..

The vet finally called back with the full results of Papaya's tests. His white blood cells are up so he has an infection. She said something about innerbacter(spelling) but I'm not quite sure what that is. Also he has some yeast..I'm picking up the meds here in a little while and will find out exactly what innerbacter is. I'm glad this will be taken are of!
