Running Backwards
So Romeo my B&G has started coming off his cage and running around my apartment on the floor. I think this is great as it's really good excercise for him, despite cleaning poop out of the carpet. The one thing I noticed is 90% of the time when he's walking around he does it backwards, and always tends to go down to the end of a small hallway that's enclosed. Are these behaviors normal for Macaws??

My Yellow Collared Macaw hits the floor and goes in reverse. Its normal.

That's so cool! I haven't heard of that either... but Macaws are such clowns! hera walks around like a chicken - but when she's on the floor, she actually prefers to be rolling around and playing like a cat... I just about die from laughter half the time... shes a riot!
But running backwards...? Now that's cool! And ditto about the potty training. I lucked out in the sense that Hera had started the potty training when we got her... so it went very well. She's pooped outside of her cage two times - and now she's got it down pat. Say the magic words "Go PooPoo!" and she's good to go! I hope you have a great weekend... ~Kevin |
