I should get mine any day now then.

I'm not expecting someone to freely rehome a 8k - 11K bird.

I'd love to add a Hy to our flock, but it's not in the cards
for quite a few years.

Thanks Clarionite but I would like to rephrase this Rehomed thing! Rehomed does not mean it is free. The only difference on a Rehomed is that they are not use for breeding anymore, Rescued or and might be old. But what is old really the bird can still outlive me.
Since we are on the subject I have been approached by a lady from middle Minnesota. Her name is Rita Webster <drladdie@yahoo.com>. She is selling a pair for $2,000.00. It is advertise for $3,000.00. I have a strong feeling it is a scam. I am in the middle of figuring things out with her to see if it is legit. Anyone out there heard the name before?

Thanks

Tell her you would hate to have them stressed. You will be there to pick them up in person and can pay cash. If she balks at all... RUN!

Trust me that is exactly what I intend to do. She just gave me her phone # and I will be contacting her and fly down. I will keep you posted if ever it goes up to that point. If not another one to report.

Shipping CITES 1 species across borders will be a mission in itself, good luck with that.

To get them across he'll have to prove that its been in his possession for at least 90 days. Otherwise he'll be looking at quarantine.

I put some info on getting a bird into Canada from the US on a thread in the main discussion area. Might not be a bad idea to look it over. I think the title was "shipping birds to Canada".

Wouldn't that be for a bird that was already a pet? For example a person moving from the US to Canada? Otherwise she wouldn't be able to satisfy the 90 day condition unless she finds residence in the US for herself and 2 hyacinth macaws for 3 months. And even then I think this applies to US citizens only, which I don't think she is.

Since the birds in question would not be her personal pets until the transaction is made, to get these birds to Canada she would definitely have to fill out a CITES permit.

Ordering Information - Helga's Parrot Hatch - Exotic birds - parrots, macaws, cockatoos and more

That website is very useful when it comes to buying birds from the US and shipping them or taking them over borders.

As for quarantine I know that it is not needed. A health certificate from a veterinarian and a vet check at the port of exit is sufficient.

Yes, that would be for a pet and it doesn't just apply to US Citizens. Say he was here as a student for 90 days, he'd be able to take the bird across as his pet.

But you are correct about needing a permit if he's just buying the bird and having it shipped in. Best bet will be to contact Canadian Ag to find out what they need to bring the bird across.

Canada has a lot of "snowbirds" that go to Florida for the winter. They do it year after year with no problems.

Manouska733, I know Rita Webster!!! I got Cheyenne from her!!! She's very nice, and definitely not a scammer!! Though I think there was a mistake in the price she's asking for them... She bought them for $15,000, so maybe she missed a zero when listing the price?
