I call the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. It is not complicated to get a parrot here. I have to place them in a separate room from the others for 40 days. They have to be vet check 30 days prior to cross over and I need a permit from the States.

Arrow Found 2 Hyacinth Macaws

Hey everyone,

I found two Hyacinth baby (1yrs old each unrelated) in Kuala Lumpur for $3000.00. I have a police officer that is located over there looking into it for me to make sure it is not a scam. So far the seller did not desagree on anything that I said. I told him we do thing my way. The money will be givin to him once the bird are aiborn to Canada. The transaction will be done by the Police officer friend of mine. He will follow all the procedures. The birds were born in the U.K. were sexed by aviantech and are register. So dream to come tru. Next on the list will be to get a Spix Macaw hopefully a Pair.

"Next on the list will be to get a Spix Macaw hopefully a Pair."

Throw in a Black Palm Too (or pair) and youre set. You'd have the top "envy" birds.

Good luck with that though. Sounds like a scam already. For someone overseas to offer you such a good price and then agree to do things "your way" sounds fishy.

Well SDavid that is what I though too but so far it is Legit. I have been working for a long time to track scams of Exotics pets and report them to proper web site to post warning. I know of scams believe me. If I did not have that friend in Law Enforcement over there I would have gone myself. The gentlement that is selling the birds works for the U.N. And so far when I check the phone # it was legit of Kuala Lumpur and his home residence with address. Like I said evething is possible but that is why I have someone helping me with this. I let you guys posted on the result.

Thanks for the warning!

This is your Canadian import laws, Canadian Food Inspection Agency - Health of Animals - Import Reference Document

There are also a couple of stories on the net about illegal parrot trafficing from Malaysia to Canada and people arrested. Also it seems that most parrots out of Malaysia are wild parrots stolen from the wild.

Malaysia has also placed a ban a couple of years ago on importing pet birds when the flu thing came up, it specifically states that imports from UK to Malaysia are banned, so they couldn't have been born in UK

Malaysia bans import of pet birds to avert bird flu | Article from AP Worldstream | HighBeam Research
CDC - Influenza (Flu) | Embargo of Birds from Specified Southeast Asian Countries

As for Spix macaws, good luck on that one, they are basically extinct in the wild and there are some conservation efforts in regards to them.

There are breeders in Canada and US that it would be so much easier and legal to buy macaws from.

Wink Hyacinth Macaw from Malaysia

Thanks Wildirish. That is why I have the Law Enforcement Involve. Trust me I want to protect these birds as much of catching anything Illegal. These Macaws have been registered to come in the Country of Kuala Lumpur so far it is legit.
I already contacted Canadian Food Inspection Agency for proper procedure etc. As for the Spix Macaw it is a dream. The Prince of Dubai acquired one for $40,000.00. I just hope the breeding in captivity will be a success that everyone one day could afford one. Maybe not in my life time

Unhappy Malaysia Import/Export

wildirish

Malaysia Import/export have been lifted since June 2007. Its seams only Canada/U.S. will not take any birds coming from Malaysia to this date. They don't know when it will be lift. Everything was legit. I will keep on looking.

Well Addicted to Tequila, Here is another scam from Cameroon

quote
hi,
Thanks for your mail regarding my bird.she is still available to any one prepared to provide her with enough care and love, where she will be well spoilt with all her needs. So i am sure that you must be a bird lover, I am looking to give the 9months old female hyacinth macaw, lina for adoption to loving and caring homes.Lina is an extremely smart and loving bird and has very good temperament with kids and other pets, very playful love to play around with toys and kids, she is health guaranteed and DNA tested, vet checked.she is up to date on all her shots and will be coming along side her health papers and vet records.I am seeking a new owner who can provide a comfortable and warm loving home for Lina. Experience with birds is a plus, but not a must. I would also require pictures with Lina in her new home to assure us that you would be good match for her and can properly provide for her. Lina also has a vocabulary of about
100 words and often says things like "hello" and "what's up". She is a great pet, but it has been difficult for me to properly care for her.We live in Cameroon. If you are interested or have any questions please reply and I will get back to you promptly. Please may i ask you a few questions?where are you located?are you a breeder?do you have kids? Can you also promise that you will take good care of her?At least with this information,i will get to know better where she will be going to and i am giving her out for free adoption. So i will be waiting for your mail asap.
thanks and God bless.
