Elliot went for a ride

Yesterday Elliot and I went to visit the ladies at the vet's office and to see his old friends at the shop for a little outing.

I was worried because up until now he's gotten car sick. Yesterday, I took his shower perch and stuck it to the passenger window instead of putting in him in his travel carrier and he did fantastic!
No car sickness. And he was soooooo good! He just hung out and looked around and had a great time!

Needless to say, we got lots of smiles and fingers pointing when we stopped at traffic lights. LOL. He had a great day and got lots of hugs and kisses from his old friends.

Inventive thinking on your part. I bet Elliot loves being out where all the action is. Glad to hear you've solved the carsickness blues.

I'm so glad to hear that was the cure for his car sickness since Bing got sick on a short ride in his carrier. I had heard with dogs it sometimes helps if they can see out a window so I was thinking the same might be true for Bing. Your experience gives me hope.

Yes. I think it solved the problem. Try it for even just a short trip around the block and see how he does. It went to the vets office first which is a 3 minute drive from my home to test him out.

I just covered the passenger seat with an old sheet and a towel, in case of potty or car sickness. He LOVED being able to see out.

Hi Alyson. Click on the link.. Looks just like this one. Scroll down on the picture and you'll see it attached to the car window.

I don't mean to rain on your parade but it's REALLY unsafe to put a pet in a car unrestrained, mostly for the pet but also the human (as well as those outside). Immagine getting into a small fender-bender and the bird hitting the windshield! Or freaking out due to noticing a predator and getting under the petals. The possibilities of something going wrong are endless.

Hi Franciscus. Thanks . It's ok. I appreciate that you were able to tell me how you felt. I know its really unsafe for them to be "loose" in the car. In this instance, I was willing to take the risk because he gets sooo sick in the car. I did have his travel carrier with me just in case he got too ambitious or if he wasn't doing well. My other macaw is always in his carrier. He does not get car sick and is so active, he would never sit still.
