Foot???

I am wondering about Captains foot? He does not appear to be sick but he is holding his foot up constantly-even when he sleeps. It is not hot, cold, swollen and does not appear to be broken. He did have his toenails clipped last Monday, could one be in the quick? It does not look like it is but I am no expert. Any comments?? (The vet is 3 hours away) Should I go or do they sometimes do this???

Sounds like the person who clipped his nails, accidentally hurt him. The joints could have been squeezed to tight, or twisted. They don't have to be swollen looking to be in sore.

Is it his left or right? If it's his left foot it's quite normal as almost all birds are left footed and usually perch gripping with their right while lifting their left. You may have just not noticed this before and because you love him you are reading into it more than you should. If it's his right it may be injured.
The thing to watch for is if he always lifts his foot when not in motion. Like, if he walks over to a toy, stops amd lift his foot before examining the toy. Or if he lifts it while he is drinking or if you notice he is uncomfortable clibing and tries to avoid it when he used to do it all time.
I am no expert and I am only giving advise on what I know about my fids. I am saying this to ease your mind and know nothing about your fid so if you do feel as though he could be injured enough to interfere with his well being (an over clipped toe nail IMHO is not going to hurt his well being unless it's severe and bleeding or has a chance of getting infected) take him to the vet ASAP.

My Captain does his one foot perch when he is settling or just relaxed. Actually all of my birds do it. I think its just a sign of content secure feeling bird who is just catching a little rest. I wouldnt be too alarmed unless you see him walking funny or babying it.
