Exclamation vet update and hes being a brat....help!

hey guys.......baby huey just went to the vet 5 days ago. he had a upper respatory infection the vet said i cought it juust in time. ive been giving him his antibiotics. thats just the update.

i've noticed something strange...hes being a brat. i know he is testing his boundries with me but its overboard......hes not the bird i first got....he is sdifferent.....he doesnt trust me. i go to give him scratches on the head and he will try to avoid me and try and bite me once he does get a grip he doesnt wanna let go but hes not biting at all hard. he is being gentle.....its just hes changed. maybe its the new addition to the family....jadyn. but he has never NEVER seen or heard her shes 17 days old shes my quaker...ive accually been trying to spend more time with baby huey but he just doesnt want anything to do with me. i wash and clean my arms neck hands everything before i touch the baby and then when i go to baby huey. so he couldnt possibly smell jade on me. since he is sick still i am keeping them in seprate rooms. maybe he isnt getting good sleep......he gets about well now that i think about it lately....he get about 8-10 hours of sleep. maybe a lil less. thats no good....i just realized that...maybe he needs more sleep. maybe he knows he has a sister....or hes just having a baby fit stage......now on training.....what do i do to get him to accept me? like he did before....help guys. give me yalls thoughts on this. maybe he is mad b/c of the vet visit.....i dunno. ui just dont know....im stressing myself out because i feel that he isnt happy. and im not doing anything wrong....what do yall think? im so bothered and upset.

It's probably all those hormones in the milk causing premature puberty. Darn, wait a sec, that's what they say about humans...

They're going to go thru those stages were they test harder. Its an unpleasant phase that is just preparing you for the true hormonal phases.

If he's intimidating you at all, he's taking the upperhand and showing you he's the boss.

Keep working with him and don't let that beak intimidate you. I know that is easier said than done but hang tough. He'll be out of that phase soon enough and he'll give you just enough time to recover for the next phase.

I find mine get pissier with me if they aren't getting at least 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep. In the winter they get 12 hours easy.

Hang in there and your loving BH will be back in no time.

I think it's a mixture of everything you mentioned, but mainly the respiratory infection. I know that when I'm sick, I'm not as polite as I usually am. Baby Huey is probably just in a bad mood because of this. Check to see if things improve as his infection goes away. Good luck!

I was thinking that as well, macawlover. I'm not exactly in the best mood when I don't feel well and on medication. He's probably testing you, but he also doesn't feel good.

I know I don't want anyone bothering me when I'm sick. I want to be left alone. Of course, you'll need to check on his progress for his health and administer meds if needed, but my suggestion is with him being sick and obviously grumpy, just let him be. He'll let you know when he's ready to cuddle again.

Wait til he gets to his terrible twos.

He is getting older ... not such a baby anymore. He is coming in to his "Macaw-Ness." He is gonna test and look for the weak spot in the fence. Be tough and stand firm!

Here is an idea. I use to have a swamp cooler instead of air conditioning years ago I had a scarlet baby with the same symptoms........I had the blue treated pads in the swamp cooler. If this is the case change them to the natural brown, tan ones made from I believe aspen not sure but when I changed them the symptoms stopped.
