Hyacinth Macaw for sale in Picayune, MS

Other Animals and Pets - Pets classifieds - NOLA.com

I'm not vouching for the ad or seller at all, but I know how hard people look for a hyacinth. The ad has been running for two weeks, and the price dropped to $8500. . . .cheaper than they've been going for around here, but still enough for me to think it might not be a scam.

Thought I'd share in case anyone was looking.

Just wanted to share a story with the group. i am currently waiting for my baby GW Macaw to be weaned. his name is Neleno and is now 17 weeks old. My Breeder was telling me a story about the Hy and sellers. Due to the HY being so rare in the U.S, they demand top dollar. My Breeder saw an ad in her Vendor guide where a guy in NY was selling a Hy for $8500.00 and claimed that he owns a pet store who breeds them. My breeder got to talking with the store owner and even met with them. She was able to meet the Hy in person, all seemed to good to be true. She advised the owner that she would purchse one of his babies, pay half down and the remaining when her Vet gave her a clean bill of health. My breeder took her new Hy baby to her vet to find out that it's spine was off center and was in poor health. My breeder was lucky in getting her money back and gave the Hy back to the store owner. you can't believe everything you read, so i hope everyone is carful with the purchase of this breed of Macaw. I have seen ads online for Hy ranging from $10,000 to $30,000. anything less then this, i would be very carful. Good luck JJones1719

I agree, the price is cheaper than a regular hy, but still high enough to make me think it's NOT a scam.

The price of 8500 is in line for a Hyacinth. I suggest that anyone interested go look at the bird and judge for themselves. Remember older birds are normally less money than young ones.

Considering today's economy, $8500 is a believable price I agree with Winged Victory--if you're interested, go and check it out...
