Interesting story of how old Roscoe is, I think she is about 9 or 10. I got her from a Petco in 02, told she was there for 2 years, but she was at another Petco before that and was moved because they couldn't sell her (who knows how long she was in that one, if the story was even true). When I took her to the vet, he said she was probably about 3. Although the Petco also swore that she was a Ruby Macaw, and sold her to me as that, even gave me a hatch certificate that said (I believe) 3/28/00 and said Ruby Macaw. So I have no idea if that is even her certificate. Needless to say, no one in the store ever handled her except one person (and I'm not knocking the store, the bird people there were very nice and all the cages were very well tended to, but people were scared of that beak I guess???) Either way, she is here now, and still getting better every day.
Truth be told I was probably in over my head when I got her, but she and I went through a lot together, and we're both better for it.

That is an interesting story. The people at the store had probably never seen a rf before. It seems like they are just starting to get noticed and recognized. I've only seen 3 of them in person. They're great birds. I'd love to have another some day.
