Exclamation Macaw rufusing his meds

My little guys just got diagnosed with a lung infection which had him in the birdy hospital for 6 days. They sent me home with all these meds to give him ( I do know how to administer) In which I hand raises him about three years ago. But anyway he wont take the meds for me. Ive put it in Baby macaw food, apple sauce through syringe. He will eat just the good stuff through syringe but not with the meds mixed in. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you

I mis mine with a tiny bit of orange juice in a glass. All of my birds will drink out of glass. They think they are getting something special... and they are.

This sounds very concerning as it seems your macaw is, or was recently, very ill. That being the case, I think it's very important for him to take his meds, even if he is not doing so willingly. If this means having to towel him in order to get him to swallow a small amount at a time, I would do it. Will your baby eat a grape? If so, you may want to talk with your vet about getting an injection of that medication and injecting it into the grape before feeding. If getting him to swallow at all is the issue, you may want to talk with your vet about having him visit daily for injections. It sounds like you are really concerned about straining your baby, and who could blame you after almost losing him, though many macaws tend to be quite forgiving of their people, even when they have to be toweled frequently for unpleasant reasons. If this is the issue, just be sure to sit with him after the deed for some soothing preening and sweet talk. I hope that's helpful.
