Marley is gonna hurt himself AGHHHHHH

He won't stop flying into things. We got his wings clipped but he can still fly across the room He has already scraped his skin up right above his beak it is causing mass chaos in our home. He is hanging onto pictures and I am so afraid that he is going to fly right into the stove when I am cooking dinner that is when he really flies alot. Also in the mornings. We have to do something because he is disrupting our whole lives. Oh did I mention he has this HUGE Fabulous Manzanita tree he could stay on but he won't. What can we do? He is really gonna hurt himself BAD I know it is only a matter of time.

if he can still fly that well, then they didn't clip them enough or right!

If he can fly that well, then he should not be out while you're cooking. Save yourself a lot of stress and prevent a potential catastrophe by putting him away when the stove is on.

Other than that, I'm not sure I can help. Some birds are just really strong fliers even when clipped. You have to make it in their interest to stay out of trouble. If he's not staying on his play gym, it's obvious that he doesn't find his play gym interesting enough. Is there anything you can do make the safe spots more attractive to him (e.g., give him a couple of acceptable choices). Is he trained on recall?

Macaws tend to be weaker fliers (when compared to smaller birds like budgies), so his wings must not be clipped far enough. Did he get the "show cut" where there are two uncut primaries on each wing? Even these few feathers can give them enough lift to fly.

Id get his wings recutfor the birds safetyand to prevent the mass chaos .Could you put the playstand near the kitchen so hed be near you but when your busy give him foraging toys /food treats like nuts etc/favorite toy etc. You gotta teach him to play /be okayon his own. Try a bucket with homemade toys /wood peices/nuts on his stand. Also try a bath right before you know your going to be busy cause hell be busy preening. Is he getting enough exercise??have him follow you around before the bath and hell be tired.

Yep I think from what you explained that must be a show cut because he has like 3 feathers in the front and three feather at the back of the wing left. Our home has a great room where the kitchen living room and dining room are one REALLY big room. His tree is right in the middle of the room so he is the center of attention all the time. He has so many toys that he likes to play with, and he gets lots of foraging things. He is only like 15 weeks old so do u think it is just a baby thing? He doesn't move off the top branch of the tree and there is SOOOOO much fun stuff to do below him but when I put him on the lower branches he just immeditely climbs up to the top he won't give them a chance. Today we let him play on the floor (supervised of course) during the time at night when he gets frisky and that seemed to help I think. It is really just in the morning when we take him out of his cage and at night around dinner time. Again is that just a baby thing? What kind of cut do you recommend? Right now he is really flyin!!!!

Eventually they will learn to preen themselves. You could try to help it along by preening him yourself (mimicing preening behaviour). Clipping the wings: I do believe there are stronger flyers out there (I know ours is one of them) but a more severe clip could be in order, do it in stages (the primaries can be cut up to the seventh one if needed) to make sure that it is the right clip for him in particular. Cut a little then stand on a soft surface (such as your bed) than drop him, if he decends in a nice way then perfect,if not then clip a little more...make sure that you are careful not to over-clip as they can just plain fall and therefore hurt themselves. Hope this helps.
