Macaw cage

Hi everyone, I found a Macaw cage I like from windy city parrot. Does anyone here have this cage? Would it Be good for a GW macaw? I don't have a GW yet but I will be in the near future and figured I might as well grab everything now to be prepared. Here's the link.

I don't personally have that one, but I do know it is a very good cage. I had many people suggest that one.

hey rob i have this cage for my b&g macaw. it works perfectly for him. its very big and easy to clean. i love that it has rollers so i can move it around. the cups are good quality and its easy to find extra cups that fit in the cages holders. i highly recommend it!

Thanks guys for the replys, I think I'm going to buy this one. Too bad I can't find this cage in Canada since I'm going to probably pay alot for duties.

I realize you want your macaw to have as big of a cage as possible but that thing is HUGE. I'm looking for a cage for my greenwing too but I don't have room for anything like that right now. What would you say is the minimum cage size for a greenwing? Keep in mind that he will seldom be in it for longer than overnight to sleep. My guys are always out on the cage top playstand or the regular playstand. The baby is only 7 weeks old so I have some time but I'm looking for something now. Thanks John.

I'm no Macaw expert but I would say at least a 36 x 28 like this one Amazon Playtop Parrot Cage 36"X28" HQ 8003628: WindyCityParrot.com, Parrot Cages, Parrot Food, Aviaries, Parrot Supplies,Bird Toys,Bird Cages

I work during the day so I would want my GW to have as big of an area as possible to keep busy.

Rob

That cage is amost exactly what I already have for my other 2 birds. I'll probably just end up getting another one to match it for Gator. Like I said they pretty much just sleep in their cages. I'm hoping to have the amazon trained to where he doesn't need to sleep in a cage as he doesn't tend to wander near as much as the U2. Thanks for the input. John.

I wouldn't get anything smaller than 30x40... I have my greenwing in a AE Double Macaw cage and its huge.. he has the whole thing to himself.

If you are going to give him tons of out of the cage time than in my opinion 30x40 is fine... but even though my boy is out of his cage a good portion of the day.. I like him having the larger space...

Keep in mind a good size greenwing has a wing span of up to 45 or 46 inches... and so you want him to be able to flap his wings without hitting either side.

If you have the space - GO BIG!!!

I agree. That zon cage is too small. Birds should be able to open there wings fully and still have room for toys. You who say your bird will not be in it except for overnight? Do you have zero life? If so then OK but saying your bird will be in only at night is being unrealistic unless your a hermit and if you leave your bird out while your gone is super unsafe. All it takes is for baby to get down once while your gone and bite thru an electrical cord and its done.
