Happy HATCHDAY DAVEY! Tom, I have a question, please. My Dewey was given to me by mother and the person she got him from claimed he was only 6 months old, which I knew then was a lie because of his eye color and the fact that his shoulders were heavily defined with bright red feathers. Deweys age is a mystery to me. Does Davey have his red shoulder feathers yet? I am just curious.

Happy Hatchday Davey! Don't worry Tom, he'll get past the scruffy looking feather stage. It's the age. Elliot is 17 mos and his look awful right now.

I've noticed within the last couple of weeks that the red is really starting to come in but I don't think it is completely finished coming in and he was at least eleven months old before I noticed it beginning to change. I will try to get more information on it and forward it to you when I visit the shop I got him from. One of the women has a Hahns Macaw too.

Thanks for the reassurance. He could pluck himself bald and I wouldn't love him less but I would like to see him with undamaged feathers free of stress lines if for no other reason because I see it as a sign of good health and happiness.
