My Baby

This is Liberty, he goes with me to do school presentations. He loves being a show off, and the kids absolutely adore seeing and learning about him.
They always ask him to fly around again and again. He certainly gets his exercise when doing presentations
This picture was taken my our local newspaper. The kindergarten class was learning the letter "P" of course a wonderful opportunity to teach "P is for Parrot".

Liberty is fully flighted, and loves to fly around the house. He has wonderful percision, lol.
Of course we take extra special precautions when he is about the house. He will fly on command simply by asking him to "Go fly" or motioning my arm outward.
He always comes back when I say "Come back to momma".

Lisa, there's nothing more gratifying than teaching kids (and big kids ;o) about birds, as you know. This is what inspired me at a young age. We just may have inspired future Avian Vets or Researchers for our birds' future

This pic says it all...

Love your pic....that wouldn't happen to be a late 80's hairdo, hmmmm? I loved those days, roflol.

Liberty is beautiful! Love the flying picture! That's so great that you get to educate kids about birds. My 7 yr. old wants me to take 1 or more of the birds to her class this year for show and tell. I just have no idea who I would bring. Kirby and Sydney would probably be the best. What kinds of things do you tell the kids?

Thank you for your kind words Steph

I tell them everything, lol. No really, each presentation is according to age. Pre-schoolers presentation is about 1/2 hr long (just enough to keep their little attention, hehehe) and up to an hour long for a more academic lesson.

I always bring different types of toys, talk a bit about their natural habitat (The Rainforest), character traits that apply to them & animals, the foods they eat, importance of play...the list goes on.

Here is my schoolpresentation page to my website. It is a custom program, designed for any age, any children's org., and mostly I try to reach the academic side of it for schools.

ohhhhhh you guessed it....that was prob 1991 ish.....I worked in a salon, so had to have the wild do's.

your right, there is nothing more rewarding...and the kids are SOOO into the presentation! My husband also went into the schools with the military to explain to the young kids what his job is, and show off his aircraft. I would always go and take a parrot. The kids prefered the birds to the 3million dollar helicopter that landed on their school field!

Steph, you should...you do it once, and you will look forward to doing it again.

I used to do schools, town functions and boy and girl scout meetings.

that picture of the little girl is just precious. My thoughts always were, maybe if we do it right, someday we might encourage another avian vet, or good bird caregiver!
