I think any parrot is better when they are away from their cage! That is their safe spot. There they area God and aren't afraid of anything as this is their home and familure to it.
Take them away and they lost their security blanket...thus the only thing they have around them then that is familure it YOU!!!! Make sense? Way to go.

That is so great.
It sounds like she is a little cage aggressive. That's fairly common. I thought my guys hadn't acquired that trait. At least they hadn't with me but when anyone else takes care of them they tell me the Bingster gets very possessive of it. They're all nuts...and yet probably saner than me.

Tom has a good point. Do you think its cage aggression? Newt and Elliots cages are big enough that I can at least put my torso and head in there to say "I know it's your house, but Momma is allowed in too." It helped with them not to acquire cage aggressive. I stick my head into their cage each night to give kisses and scritches before they go to sleep.

KimM I did something similiar with Dewey when I first brough him home, everyday I would stop by his cage and touch all his toys and perches and food bowls and messed with stuff, now he is used to it and thinks nothing of me messing in there. Except when Im putting a new toy in, then he feels he has to help.

The only reason I don't think it is cage aggression is that she doesn't act the same when hubby walks up to her cage. He can pet her and get her to step up from her cage with no problem. I tried this afternoon and I got to touch her foot without incident but she wouldn't step up.
