Talking Hannah flies on command!!!!!!

I finally did it!!!!! I trained Hannah to fly to me on command! After having her here for six months I have convinced her that jumping off her play top while flapping her arms at the same time was actually safe. For three months now she has been able to fly since her molt caused all her new feathers to grow out(when I got her she already had her wings clipped and it was her baby feathers)
At first when she started to fly it was clumsy and awkward, she would just fly around the house mainly if she got spooked. and for about two months she would stay on top of her play top and act like all she wanted to do was fly to me but was too chicken to jump off and try it, she would dance across the top of the cage bobbing her head and just whining at me about how she wanted to be with me so badly(it was pathetic)
Well on Monday I was sitting here typing on BB (as I usually am) and for a while I got the "I wanna be with Daddy" dance, then all of a sudden I heard "WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH" and I felt talons on the top of my balding head(she thinks it is a landing pad for feathered helicopters)
So I figured hey I'm gonna try something, and I got up while grabbing the bag of sunflower kernals(Hannahs favorite) and walked with her to the other side of the living room, and with the hand that Hannah was on I motioned towards her cage and she took right off and flew to it. I then showed her that I was getting seeds out of the bag and put my hand out and said "Hannah fly" and she happily jumped and took off towards me and landed gingerly on my hand!!!!! Let me tell you this.......I have not been MORE proud of her till that moment, and I felt something for the first time in my life that I had never felt before. Most people will never feel that feeling that I had when that beautiful creature flew to me on command and for the fact that she wanted to.
For the next ten minutes we repeated the flying routine, and every day since we have practiced for a good half hour, she has it down to an art now. Now there is one problem.............Now that she has figured out that she can fly she thinks she can fly and be on me whenever she wants, sitting here typing I have had to have her fly back and forth from her cage and me about twenty times now, because she thinks that when she is with me that that is the best time to take apart my keyboard while I am trying to type......HMMMMMMMM..............LMB

PS: guess what else I have trained her to do...........POOP TRAINED BABY!!!!!!!

Way to go Hannah! I bet you could get some nifty photos of her in flight sometime.

Its a good command to have reliably trained, God forbid our babies ever got out, it could make a huge difference in getting your birdy back.

that is the main reason that I am teaching her, I sure would hate to lose her and at the same time I really want her to be able to fly and do the thing that she was designed to do........LMB

That's great. I'm teaching Eli to do that. Though sometimes, like Hannah, he lands on my head. Man, those nails digging in my scalp huuuuuuurt.
