Does Seeing the Same CL ad over and over make you feel guilty?

So yeah... I've been really good about staying off of CL or at the very least, looking at the pics and no emails for ... geez.... over a month now.

So today, I was bored and procrastinating my homework (yet again) and I saw this B&G who has been listed at least twice before and she's still unable to get it a new home. She looks shaggy... not sure why but she does and the picture of her cage has a german shepherd laying in front of it and I don't think the dog could get in that cage either. The picture showing the cage is also taken in the garage. Yeah, I know... garages are okay but I'm getting guilty feelings over this. They only want $400 obo... not much... I'm sitting here trying to talk myself out of this... even if it is only for the purpose of finding it a better home. Owner also says he/she is gone for 3 week periods at a time....

Just wondered if anyone else felt guilty when things like this happen.... it's prolly just me tho

Also saw another B&G and a Harlequin of all things listed today. Pretty sure the Harlequin is a scam tho.

Anyway....

I feel very bad for birds that aren't loved. They don't deserve to be neglected (nor do captive animals in general) or forgotten. I'm hoping that those dogs aren't terrifying that bird on top of her loneliness. I'm currently reading and learning about parrot mills and how common they are. As for the life those birds lead for decades at a time, it probably makes this birds life look like a picnic-and from what I've read so far birds aren't included in animal rights laws. I think we should bring them to at least the same level of protection as dogs and cats.

On the bright side at least this person is trying to part with this B&G and for a fair price for a re-home I think.

Oh definitely, the owners are doing the right thing. I feel bad for the bird because he's been up for rehoming for months now and no one wants to take a chance on her for whatever reason. Any owner who can admit they can't handle/take care of their bird anymore and are willing to part with it reasonably and not make a fortune off of it is okay in my book. I'm not disputing the owners love or capabilities... just feel sorry that no one wants this sweet girl.

And, I'm a sucker for macaws. I think I should change my name to that

Your screen name? There's a woman who runs another site that actually changed her last name to "Dove" because of her love of birds. Anna Dove.

And yeah....that price is tempting. Even if to get the bird out of there and into a better home.

Your quote.....from "Rent," are you quoting the movie or have you seen the play too. I saw the play in NY with the original cast and again years later with a newer cast. I loved it and even bought the soundtrack.

Just the movie... would kill to see it in NY. Someday...

It's such a great story with really great life lessons. That quote has just stuck with me.

I think another reason people aren't adopting large birds right now is cause of the economy.
It sucks... everyone.. well most everyone is hurting right now.

Yeah... I know.

Hubby and I discussed it and he said he didn't care if he had to get the cage too. Somehow though, I think I won't hear back from them. I've done all that I can do at this point

Yup...

What can I say, I'm a sucker. Plus, I know where that bird would be quite happy... and it's not here!

Halo I hope you hear from them. That's why I don't look at those ads. It breaks my heart. I wish I could take another one in, but just don't have the room or time right now.
