Macaws and very small birds

Okay, so...obviously I would never leave my little dusky headed conure out within reach of my BGM and unsupervised, but...

Karis (the dusky) LOVES other birds. Seeing as she spent a good majority of her first months of life spending time with just other birds and having little human contact, she CRAVES other feathered company.

She and Luca (sun) have their love-hate thing going, but Karis has a real interest in Eti (bgm). She tries to get closer to him everytime he's within reach. Now, she isn't agressive about it, and Eti only shows curiousity...and Eti was raised for his first 4 months around tons of other birds of all different species....so would it be dangerous to let them be near eachother if I'm watching?

Because I feel bad having to snatch one away from the other when they're showing such interest in checking the other out....but I don't want to take chances. I would never let them alone together though.

Does anyone have large macaws that get along with very small birds? And I'm not talking macaw to smaller macaw...but macaw to very small conure?

I don't trust my macaw with my small birds. He hasn't shown any aggression but I'm not taking any chances. When I first got larger birds, I was warned about a nanday conure and a bg who were best buds until the day the bg bit the nanday's head breaking her skull and leaving her with permanent brain damage.
If she really wants a buddy, I would consider getting her a friend her own size.

Eep. 0 _ 0

Yeah, my worry is that a large macaw just...may not know his own strength, and with a human, we can survive that and catch it with a little hollow boned conure? Eeee.

Karis has Luca, who--like I said--has a love hate thing with her. I just was curious because I feel bad about dragging them apart everytime karis tries to get a closer look.

Yeah, that happens more than you think, and not just with Macaws. It's not even aggression. Birds have no concept of relative size or the differences. My Zoe is just a bitty little RFM and she cracks walnuts without blinking an eye in one single second. It's that easy for her... so imagine that walnut being a buddy smaller bird and she's just 'playing'. Yikes yeah?

oooh yeah. Eti snapped through a cat toy (the ones with the little jingly bells--yes, I take them away as soon as they're within reach) the other day, and he did it so much without thinking that he SCARED himself and dropped it immediately. > _ >

I think I'm just going to have to keep feeling bad for Karis' own good.
