Skittles/Lilly Update & my other Fids...

I am SO very very happy. It has been a slow process, but it seems that Lilly (formerly Skittles) is starting to get new feathers! Keep coming feathers, keep coming!!!

What she looked like when I got her...

Now...

Look at all those pretty red feathers!!!!

Look closely for the light blue and yellow ones... (these seem to have popped up overnight!)

Dont mind my floor grazer...she thinks she needs to regurgitate for my feet...

On the playstand

I know it still looks bad, but it is a HUGE improvement for us!

I dont think I have shared many photos of my TAG. This is Miss Micah...the diva of the family. She has a HUGE vocabulary, LOVES to play hide and seek with me, and is overall a big time comedian. She LOVES to order the Macaws around, and will tell them to "Shut up...BE QUIET" in a heartbeat! I do NOT ever say shut up, so I have no idea where she got that. Maybe in her previous home. (All of my birds except the budgies are rehomed birds)

This is her in her new cage...

(She is watching TV)

The budgies got her old cage, they also got moved into my sitting room off my bedroom. I think the living room area was a bit to stressful for them. They seem very happy where they are now. I may wind up splitting them between a few cages just so they have more room. We will see.

Thats all for now! Just HAD to share my happy news about Lilly.

Fantastic job. Huge difference from before and after pictures. Your fids look great, very healthy looking ,matter of fact your tag looks alittle on the plump side. Ever since i moved my bgms cage apollo has stopped plucking and is now growing new feathers all over her chest too. Lilly and jo jo are really thriving, GREAT JOB

Wow, huge difference! Lilly looks so much better. Is there anything special you are doing for her? Your entire flock is beautiful. Their cages look fun too.

She looks soo much better! whatever you're doing, you're doing right. By the way,, what are you doing? We could always use good tips on feather health.

Thanks!

To be honest, I am just taking care of her... like you would any bird. I make sure her cage stays clean, I give her lots of out of cage time. A good quality diet. I feed her Harrisons High Potency Course (with Avi-x sunshine factor mixed in) along with fresh fruit and veggies. I also give her the Bird Paradise Build a Blend, and a few of the Goldenfeast Mixes (I try to alternate) I give her nuts in shell. She gets misted with Avi-X Soother Spray at least 2x a day, but I try to do it 3x a day. She has plenty of toys (of different types) I make sure there is ALWAYS plenty for her to shred.

She was seen by an avian vet and we had a full workup done on her to be sure that it was nothing health related. Once that was ruled out...I knew I just had to keep her mind occupied and change the behavior through developing good habits. I guess it is working! I really appreciate all of you guys support along the way!

That's funny. At our house it's our macaw that tells the other two to shut up (in my sister's voice, we stayed with her after my last relationship ended, I specifically told her NOT to react to the birds when they get anoying.... oh well)
