B&G Macaw & African Grey ???

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the "AVIARY", B&G Macaw, or African Grey section. hahahhaa
Anyway...I was wonderin....I am gettin ready to begin construction on an outside Aviary. Could I put my two birds in the same cage? I have had Sully,(the Grey) since she was an infant, she's almost 9 now. And Gizmo (the Macaw) is a Adopted child that's 13 that we've had for 2 years. The birds are Simi friends, but have never been able to touch each other, yet. Or should I build the cage and put a divider between them?
I have always been afraid to let the birds "touch" cause I'm scared Gizmo will grab Sully and hurt her. When ever I hold them both, they look at each other in a nice way..but..yall know birds! One minute they are very lovely and sweet and the next second, they're tryin to rip your lip off!!!

I also own a grey and a B&G. I would never ever cage them together. They tolerate each other from a distance, but a Macaw could REALLY injure (or kill) a grey in a split second. Not a risk worth taking IMO.

Good Luck with your new aviary, I am sure your birds are going to love it. I dream of having something like that for my birds someday. PLEASE post pics when it is finished!

I agree, it is just not worth the risk. You would never forgive yourself if something happened. I think all birds should have their own cage, I think it gives them a feeling of peace.

When I went to the pick up my cage last saturday, the lady had hundreds of macaws in an outside aviary. She had paired birds in seperate cages that were for breeding. She kept the macaws and cockatoos together, some green type parrots together in a different outside aviary. At the very end of her breeding cages was this green parrot with a little red by his beak. She told me he gave her the worst bite she ever had and when she put a female with him, he killed her.

Now, why would anyone want to breed a mean bird like this? Could he have some bad DNA?

Anyway, thought I would share what I observed with the different species in outside aviaries.

That would be a military macaw right?, I have never heard of birds being that nasty! But I am also new to the whole thing.
