I don't have an outside aviary, however all of my birds have enjoyed going outside, if it was feasable! Either caged, clipped, or harness! And most of my birds, of unknown ages due to being from other homes, have enjoyed it!
Some birds may be afraid of new situations, so when you take them out, watch their behavior for any signs of nervousness.

I wouldn't think so.. Macaws of that age are still considered pretty young. They live to an average of 60 yrs in capivity. Just introduce them to the outdoors just as you do anything "new".
Mine LOVE to go outside and I'm planning on an outdoor aviary in the next year or two.

My B&G is 31 and loves to put on his harness and go outside and also loves to ride in the car.
