Hi Jason,
We have renamed 2 of our birds, the SCC had the name Dumdum for 10 years, we changed it to Diamond and when we say it, she looks our way. Only have had her for about 9 wks. Changed our Scarlet Macaw's name also, from Molly to Mystic, she quickly started saying her new name.
Thats funny, I wanted to name one of the birds Sapphire, the hubby didn't like it! ;-)

Does she know her name? I think you could change it if you really want to. I wanted to change Cookie's name, but Cookie had already stuck with me and i couldn't, lol, but cookie doesn't really know her name, and she responds to anything..

if you're going to change it, i would do it sooner rather than later.

what new name were you thinking of?

I rehomed a much older U2 whose name was Hammy. Yuck, I didn't like it. So we changed it to Sammy. He now says Sammy in all his learned sentences. Of course this was an easy switch due to how much they sound alike.

I just want something different and exotic like her....
I will keep up to date on what I decide....

Paco came to me as Halo, I just hate, hate, hate that video game so I changed it to Paco, which has the same type of sound to it. I actually still feel guilty about it sometimes...of course it is one of the very few words he does say. I don't think it is a huge deal in reality though, they will learn the new name, I don't think you should have a pet with a name you do not like. I think since it is a new situation for the bird, a new name is fitting as well.

Who on earth would call a bird Dumdum?! Wow.

She's going to get used to whatever you call her over time. I got a lovebird named Skye and I always disliked how cliched (and slightly ironic as she doesn't fly outside) that name was, but I kind of ended up liking it and couldn't think of anything else, so she is still Skye.

I saw the other pics of her, and she's gorgeous!!
