Your Fids:
-------------------RAINBOW LORIKEET---------------------

Ashling:
I have the pleasure of owning a delightful little rainbow lorikeet . Ashling is my world. She sleeps in my room in a big cage and sometimes I cuddle with her before putting her to bed. She loves crawling under covers and chewing on my book when I read. She eats with me on her special perch on a chair at the kitchen table- when I give her food she makes cute chirruping noises.

We go for walks together and I let her climb trees, eat native shrubs, get some sun, fresh air and play in the grass.

Probably the cutest thing she does is when we play what I call the 'kitten game.' I'll tap my fingers on a table top near her and suddenly she'll fluff up really big and start bouncing up and down, pinning her eyes, jumping in circles and pouncing on my hand! Then she wrestles with my hand and rolls on her back scrabbling at it with her little feet and beak. Her favorite toy is her jingle ball which she rolls over onto her back and holds in her feet while chewing it.

Ash also likes to wrestle with my 30 kilo border collie heeler 'Flea' and chase the chickens (who are all many times her size!) She's one spunky lorikeet! <3

-----------------------COCKATIELS-------------------------

*Peanut:
Nutsy is my oldest bird, he is around 7 years old. He's a cinnamon and was the first bird I went out and bought myself. He loves himself to death and is a real charmer. He taught me alot more about birds and made my love of birds grow to an obsession. I taught Peanut some vocab/ tricks:
"hello pretty pretty pretty pretty booooyyy!"
"Dance," bobs up and down on perch,
"Hello Peanut," looking in the mirror,
"Peekaboo," crouches, shoots up tall and says peekaboo!
"Show me your wings," Opens wings- often followed by him looking at them affectionately and telling me how pretty pretty pretty they are!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

*Indiana:
Indi is a beautiful lutino who can step up, sit on my shoulder and sometimes eat out of my hand, but isn't very tame. I never had the need to tame her properly, as she was just a friend for Peanut. She's a few years old now, and there's not much point as she's happy, Peanuts happy and I'm happy :D
Indi is first and foremost Peanut's mate. My nana bought her for me after my first lorikeet Charlie died, I guess as a replacement for both me and also Peanut, whose first mate Aleu (A-loo) had escaped and flown away. Even though she hisses and lunges, I love her and can't wait for her and Peanut to have a family of their own! She's my little fluffpot.

-------------------------BUDGIE---------------------------------

*Topazz:
I bought her as a mate for Zombie- my only successfully bred budgie- but since he died last year (caught disease from wild mice! urrgh!) she is all alone. Topazz is a funny little thing. Not very tame, but loves getting attention. She's sit on your shoulder and chew holes in your clothes, she'll step up and let you kiss her beak.
I think she needs a new mate, but I don't want more budgies! I'm not sure what to do with her, since she now belongs to my sister and she's such a little cutie. She lives in the cocatiel's cage and they get along fine.

I kept a Raven called Morrigan for 4 months, and she was released back into the wild. She impacted on my life so much and increased my love and obsession with Ravens.

About Yourself:
I love art such as painting, photography, music, drawing, poetry, writing and drama.
My favorite animal is the Raven. I love animal biology and psychology, and training dogs and parrots. I love anything to do with birds- especially parrots, carrion birds and birds of prey.

I have learnt alot in my 8 years of keeping birds by my self from a 9 year old to a 17 year old. I have made many mistakes and learned by trial and error. I had an aviary at one point and I've had great experiences- breeding budgies and quails, rescueing a cockatiel and a princess parrot and taming lorikeets, tiels and budgies. All up, I can count 37 birds that touched my life. Ive settled down a bit and only have 4 birdies now, but I'm still hooked :D

ps. Yes I like to write...
What other type of pets do you own?:
Birds, Dogs, Fish
