Alex Memorial Pin Now Available

It's a wonderful tribute to an incredible bird. Here's the link to the Foundation and the pins (scroll down a little): The Alex Foundation Gifts

They also have two new 8x10 photos of Alex for sale. Scroll down a little bit more.

I just ordered two pins.

Alex

The day Alex died reminded me of something that touched my heart. June 1, 2007 I had to do, what everyone dreads, helped one of my kids stop suffering and made his pain go away so he could get some sleep. Mister Bill. A grey cockatiel 15 years old three kids he had that are still here with me. He had cancer. Anyway I saw a Ziggy comic that day that said, Ziggy was sitting in his livingroom and the Bluebird of happiness landed on his windowsill and said to Ziggy " I am the Bluebird of happiness do you mind if I come in and have a good cry" really made me cry and made my day. I have two Alex pins. Me and my hubby take care of birds no one wants. They breed they stay here, Mr Bill was a special little boy no one wanted him either. I have 22 birds now, 15 Cockatiels, 3 Sun conures, a Yellow-Collared McCaw, a Green Wing McCaw named Chels, a pigeon who was born here, (long story), and Lady Grey a 14 year old African Grey. Hubby talked to Irene Pepperberg on the phone long ago I can not imagine the pain she is going through. I am sure she will remember Alex the rest of her days. I have lost 3 kids this year hope to get through Christmas without losing any others. A lot of old kids here and as my hubby says as far as Alex is concerned, stuff, (things) happen and sometimes life does not go on very well. Always miss you Alex have your videos from the Animal Planet shows.

I got two pins for myself since I'm sure I'll manage to lose one down the road. Even though they're called "limited editions," Jaimie (or Arlene) said they will always reorder the pins. So if I lose both pins ...

It's very hard to care for older birds as you never know if today will be their last. Alex wasn't "old" but I'm grateful he died quickly rather than suffering. I met Dr Pepperberg many years ago. I honestly don't remember much about the meeting, but I've been an Alex fan for at least 15 years.

I think its great what you do and I know there are a few places but I wish there were more places like yours, I want to eventually do that but I will need a bigger house and want a room just for them.
