~Thor~ White Faced Cockatiel

Thor, one of the first White Faced tiels to hit NJ, passed away this afternoon. He was hatched around 90ish, and I bought him(yes, I have bought birds) in 1992. He was a pearl pied male that never lost most of his pearl markings. He wasnt the friendliest bird. He was not handled the first 2 years of his life. He did not want to get up on your finger, unless he was out of the cage, and in trouble. I would however pick him up in a papertowel, because he never bit through that. He just didnt like the fact of having to hop on a finger.
He was about 16 years of age.
i have attached a picture, tho, its not a good one. He is is the smaller tiel cage to the left. He is the only white face in there.

Oh so sorry, but that's a pretty long life for a tiel if I'm not mistaken?

Lisa, I am so sorry! At least he had 13 good years with you-that is more than most birds get-you gave him a great life and lots of love! HUGS

Thanks everyone.
A tiel can live up to 25 years if well taken care of. My last guy, Travis, was 22. He passed on over the summer.
I had 17 tiels at one time. I now have three. the oldest being born in 1989, His name is Bud.
Bud was purchased for my dad by me, as I was getting married, and didnt want my dad to be left all alone. I had lived with my dad, since the age of 13. My parents divorced when I was about 5.
I bought bud, in October of 1989, and that little bugger LOVED me.....well, when I came home from my honeymoon, I went and got my dad a canary, and Bud came with me......

Happily I can say, all the tiels have passed on because of old age. Several knowing only my home, and me as thier mommy. One by one, thier flock is being reunited at the Rainbow Bridge

Sorry to hear of you loss. My lost my Keet the day after Christmas. I think he hung in there one more day for me. His cage sits to the side. I'm not ready to fill it just yet.

Very sorry to hear about Thor. I'm glad he had a nice long life. I can't believe Bud hatched in 89! And you had a 22 year old tiel

MY WIFE NANCY AND I ARE SADDEN TO HEAR OF THOR'S PASSING. COCKTIELS ARE SOME OF THE BEST AND MOST LOVING BIRDS OF THE PARROT FAMILY AND I KNOW THOR MUST HAVE BEEN A WONDERFUL BIRD.
WE LOST ONE OF OUR BEST COCKTIEL'S, CODY, LAST NOVEMBER AND MY WIFE STILL IS SAD OVER HIS LOST. THOR WAS WITH YOU 16 YEARS AND WE FEEL YOUR LOSS.

NANCY AND GLENN
