I too feel for you my friend.
But remember the fun you had and also be secure in the knowledge that you had a friend that not many here have had the pleasure of knowing. I have had 4 or 5 Rats in my lifetime and each one was special in some way. My favorite was Elric, an albino Rat boy that was named after the fabled Albino Warrior Elric of Melnibonne (sp), a he was a character in the Michael Moorcock books. Back in the days I still smoked (cigarettes), I would leave my hardpack open on the table and tell Elric to get me one. He would scurry over the top of the couch, crawl down the side and shimmy up the table leg to where it was lying on the table and pull on out of the pack by the filter. With a little chittering noise he would then proceed to retrace his steps all the while still holding the cigarette in his teeth. At the end of his epic journey he would be on my shoulder and actually try to place it in my mouth. I swear if i'd taught him how to use a lighter he would have done that for me as well. His favorite past time was riding my motorcycle with me. Every time he heard it start up he would hold on to the side of the cage and scream and start to thrash back and forth, like "Let me outta here!". Putting him in the top front right pocket of my jacket, he would just stick his two tiny feet and head out to let the wind whip his whiskers all over the place, and he was a happy camper. Sadly their lifespan is not that long but for the time that we did spend together I think he was happy. I know I was. So fret not my friend, for he is not gone at all, but only a thought away. ![]()
