Lost 2 parakeets this summer

This past summer I lost my blue and my green parakeets, Houdini and Copperfield. Houdini was active and fine one day and the next day I had to bury him. And about a month later, my b/f's friend came over to use my computer that is in the birdie room. He left the door opened and my b/f's cat came in and killed my green parakeet Copperfield. When I came home from work that afternoon, I find her locked in the room with my bird on the floor. Cat went flying out the front door and hasn't been seen since. I have latches on the door to make sure they are secured and locked so the cats can't knock the door open. I take all the percautions to protect my babies. And that happened. The only thing the friend could say was, "ahh sorry" and had this chuckle to it. He is no longer allowed to use my computer unless I am here! So Sweetie, aka SpongeBobbie is a lonely parakeet.

I'm so sorry for your losses. Sometimes bad things happen, no matter how careful we are. I hope the kitty found a loving home somewhere, as well.

I wouldn't let that friend in your house anymore. Sorry for your losses.

So sorry to hear about your parakeets. I agree with birdlady...I wouldn't let the friend back in unless there was a real heartfelt apology for your little one's death.

I agree with everyone else here, there is no recourse for a snotty attitude towards a little budgies life
May your remaining budgie have looooong and healthy life, maybe mommie could get another one for company???

I will get another one after Christmas. He's a shy baby but I know he's lonely. Thanks for all the kind words. And I haven't spoken to that idiot since it happened.
