March rolls around again...
My budgie Tweeter died almost 7 years ago now, the day before my 20th birthday. My mother and he were at the vet's getting his foot seen to (he seemed to have a growth on it.) Then, with no warning, he went limp in the vet's hand. We figure he stroked out. He was my baby bird since I was 8, my best friend, we grew up together. When I was crying, he'd let me take him out of his cage and use him to sponge up my tears without struggling or complaining. He got through his whole life with a wonky foot and never acted out because of it. He would cuddle up to my mom's ear and whisper all his secrets to her. He was happy, and cheerful, and Human.
I never cried that much in my life. To everyone who's lost a fid - the pain dulls, but doesn't go away. And you wouldn't want it to. You can't love something that strongly and remain untouched when it leaves you. Just remember the good things.

Aww wasnt he cute! I know what you mean, when we lost our Galah who we had in the family (passed down) for about 50 years (the vet estimated about 63 yrs old when she went) died I didn't think i would ever stop crying. Even when my duck whom i had only had for about a year and a half went it was just as heart breaking, they don't have to be around long to capture your heart which makes it so much harder when they go. My tiel is 17 so i have had him since I was 3 and I can't even imagine how I will be when he goes....The best thing is that we were part of their lives and we always have our memories which I would much rather have than not. They always knew how to cheer you up.

One who is never forgotten, never dies...

I still remember the day we lost our first budgie - that little man was absolutely adorable. And that was more than 20yrs ago

Wow, I have had my parrotlet divot for only a year, but we are strong and bonded together. I don't know what it would feel like to have lost that bond.

Fly free for the seventh time Tweeter.
