Goodbye, Brisby

My canary, Brisby, has been having some hard times lately as far as her health. It's been depleting rapidly over time, regardless of the vet's effort to help her. I've been thinking about having her put to sleep for a while now, but for the longest time I was putting it off. There were some days when she seemed like she was actually going to be okay. But then when I went in to check on her last night, I noticed that the feather loss on her neck has spread to her face, and at that point it became apparent she was suffering - and no animal in my care will ever have to suffer, regardless of how much I will. I called the vets just a little while ago, and we made an appointment to have her put to sleep this morning at 10AM. There's a really big pit in my stomach right now, but I can't stand to see her slip farther and farther away like this. I miss Brisby as the tweeting, bubbly little Canary she once was. I think this will be the last time I ever own a canary. They are just so fragile and are a heart break waiting to happen.



I love you, Brisby. May you finally rest in peace.
