We lost Molly Bird today

For those who read the cockatoo forum and know about our little Molly Bird. I'm sorry to say that she passed on today. She was our rescue who was abused and I bought her for my husband, she was thin and plucked on her breast. She adored him but hated me. She was looking so good, even getting new feathers on her chest.

My husband happened to check in her cage to see what she was up to and found her dead. He's very shaken over it. Right now she's in our fridge in newspaper, as he wants to have a necropsy done.

Her beak looked like it had vomit on it, so we think she aspirated before she passed on.

I'm wondering if there was something wrong that we were not aware of. For the last few weeks she did not want to get wet feathers. My husband takes them into the shower with him and let's them shower. Normally she loves to go in with him and as I said lately she refused to go.

Awww, that's so sad. So sorry for your loss. My grey is so attached to my husband and vice versa. He would be devastated if anything happened to her. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

At last she was loved and cared for before she passed on. She's happy because of that. Hugs to you

We took her in to have the autopsy done.

It looks like she had I think it's atherosclerosis of the arteries. Her liver was also small and I believe the doc said there was a kidney infection. I'm sorry to say that my husband and I never saw a sign of any of this. Everything seemed normal, although birds are masters at hiding problems.

The doctor is going to run some more tests.
