Mrs Finch

Sadly my "wobbley" finch, (Mrs finch) passed away this morning,when i was out taking my motorbike test.
It didnt bother me that i didnt pass the test, but when i came home to see my little baby in a box, has really upset me.
Also my other finch (Mr finch) is calling for her all the time, and is now feeling very lonely on his perch by himself and not having his friend to cuddle upto.

Saturday i took the cage outside for them to hear all the other birds and get a bit of fresh air, and she seemed to pick up a bit, but this is quite a shock really.
She was eating her millet spray and drinking as normal, then this.

I'm going to find a new partner for Mr finch tomorrow, and bury Mrs under our weeping willow in the front garden.

Hello Lillmossy,

We all need to learn WHY our bird(s) passed away rather than just going out and buying another to replace. You must make sure that you did & will do everything possible to ensure all your birds the best life possible and provide for them the best housing & diet etc. possible. Please try and examine everything your are doing for your birds and see if ya can make it better in any way such as providing the largest cage you can provide (yes, that includes for little finches); daily natural direct sunshine for part of day (make sure they can get out of it at anytime though): proper F.S lighting if you can't have them outdoors for whatever reason; as natural a diet as possible to incl. a good pellet and a good finch seed mix etc. etc.; as clean living conditions as you can provide; a relatively stress free location to locate their cage; a predator safe cage which would incl. a double bottom if outside and no bigger than 1/4" spacing between the wire strands (for outdoor finches); changing the water a couple times a day and sterilization of food & water vessels at least about once every 4 days or so; special attention to all the hazards in the home to incl. sprays, toxic metal, toxic fumes from cookware, other family pets, small children etc. etc. etc.........

You probably know & realize all I just suggested above but if not please do the best you can to provide it all and others who may be reading this that are just getting into the hobby or love of keeping birds should do the same..........Remember too about proper quarantine procedures when introducing a new bird into the environment of an existing bird etc.....Good luck Lillmossy...........

How should i go about this ?
I had the two from the same place when i had them, would you advise going back to the same place to look for another ?

When i had the two birds, she had lost a few tail feathers back then and gradley got worse.
